In a close game the Santa Fe Trailer Bitches got by the Langley Farm Team by
the score of 9 to 7.
Santa Fe brought 4 runs across the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 5
hits. The highlight belonged to Ian Kinsler who silenced Covert Ops Field as
he laced a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. Langley was not lacking
for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them
as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
Justin Verlander(6-6) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings. Craig Breslow recorded his 3rd save. Ben Sheets(3-11) was tagged
with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 and
1/3 innings.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Dennis Martin said after the game. 'Verlander did not have
command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew
how to pitch!'
